Dental Cerec

One of the most cutting edge pieces of modern dental technology, CEREC, is now here at Sensura Dental! CEREC or CEramic REConstruction is a state of the art CAD-CAM machine that allows new teeth to be made and fitted in under an hour. Dr. Raj Parkash has undergone extensive training in CEREC, recently qualifying from the CEREC Advanced Course. He can offer beautiful and bespoke ceramic veneers, crowns and even bridges to you, in just ONE appointment.

CEREC has been around for a few years now and is by far one of the most advanced pieces of dental equipment on the market. Patients love the fact that they can have a whole crown (or crowns) made and fitted for them in under an hour instead of the usual two-week wait for lab based work. What's more, there are no unpleasant impression moulds needed like conventional crown work, no second appointment and no temporary reconstructions needed.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is a CAD/CAM (computer aided design/ computer aided manufacture) system that comprises of two main parts. The first part, a computer unit fitted with a digital scanner and camera is used to take a scan of the patient's mouth which is then displayed on the computer screen. Teeth can then be designed on the computer to perfectly blend in and correspond with other teeth in the mouth. Once designed, the second part of CEREC, the milling machine, creates the specially designed tooth out of a block of solid ceramic. The ceramic tooth can then be stained and glazed in order to look completely natural and match with the patient's natural teeth.

Who can benefit from CEREC?

CEREC can be used for practically any reconstruction that used to have to be made in a lab. Whether used for veneers, crowns, bridges or the replacement of ugly amalgam fillings, CEREC is a great treatment option.

Is CEREC expensive?

Surprisingly, CEREC treatments cost pretty much the same as their lab based alternatives. As there is no lab fee to pay with CEREC, the cost is kept down. This means that you can pay relatively the same amount and have your new tooth TODAY instead of weeks in the future. CEREC teeth usually cost around £500-£700 per tooth.

How long do CEREC teeth last?

CEREC teeth have been proven to last for many years, with some recent reports showing proof of CEREC teeth lasting for over 25 years. As CEREC teeth are ceramic, they are extremely strong and durable. They look, feel and function like natural teeth and should last for years.
